Lavin lauds UPS role in facilitating stronger Indo-US export trade
Mumbai, Dec 1 (UNI) UPS and US Commercial Service, led by Under Secretary for International trade Frankin Lavin today commemorated the role of UPS in facilitating growth of the Indo US export trade and the first anniversary of the UPS Store in India.
Under Secretary for International Trade, US Department of Commerce, Mr Frankin L Lavin told reporters here today ''UPS provides not only express delivery services but also important technological capabilities that UPS customers can provide to their own customers. Everybody's game gets better.'' As a prominent player in the package delivery industry, UPS helps facilitate trade between India and US through export and import of shipments between the two countries and contributes to the bilateral trade between India and the US.
''The United States has remained India's largest trading partner since the mid-1980s according to the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S). India's total merchandise trade with the US stood at US dollar 20.1 billion in 2004-05. Among the commodities, gems and jewellery, engineering goods and ready-made garments are the major items in India's export basket to the US,'' he added.
