Puducherry, Dec 1 (UNI) The JIPMER anti-conversion Peoples Joint Action Committee (JAC) would go ahead with its agitation here this evening despite police denying permission for the agitation.

Talking to reporters, CPM Committee President said a decision to this effect was adopted at an all party meeting, which was attended by representatives of the AIADMK, BJP, CPM and RPI among others.

CPM State Committee member Murugan said the committee had sought police permission to organise the agitation and was informed that permission would be given after proper discussions with higher officials. However, permission was denied following PMK legislator Anantharaman announcing a counter agitation, Mr Murugan added.

He said the agitation would take place as scheduled and this was conveyed to the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police.

He alleged several anti-social elements from Tamil Nadu were camping in Puducherry and the PMK was intending to unleash violence on the agitators, which would include JIPMER employees.

In case of any law and order problem the PMK also would be responsible, he alleged.
