J and K restrict Jharkhand for 242 all out on day one

Jamshedpur, Dec 1 (UNI) A fine bowling by medium pacer Abid Nabi (five for 46) restricted hosts Jharkhand to 242 all out in their first innings on the opening day of the four-day plate group B Ranji trophy tie at Keenan stadium here today.

In reply the visitors were 19 for one in their first innings when the stumps were drawn. Skipper Arshad Bhatt and Kanwaljit Singh were batting on five and seven runs respectively.

Jharkhand captain Sumit Panda struck first with the wicket of opener Sajjad Seikh for four runs.

Earlier, J&K won the toss and decided to field but Nabi struck in the fourth over taking the wicket of Ratan Kumar for nought. But the other opener Manish Vardhan played sensibly and completed his half century (56) with the help of nine fours he before became the victim of spinner Samir Khajuria.

After the exit of Vardhan, A Vidyarthi, who scored highest 75 runs, added 68 runs in the third wicket partnership with C M Jha (22). Vidyarthi, who hit 12 boundaries, was bowled by Nabi. S Tiwary also contributed a qucik-fire 29 runs hitting four fours and one six.

Tailenders Mihir Diwakar and wicket keeper Madhusudan Tantubai scored 25 and 22 not out respectively.

Apart from Nabi, Khajuria also returned with four wickets for 65 runs and Vijay Sharma took the other wicket.
