Indian mobile entertainment mkt to touch $1 bn
Kolkata, Dec 1: Indian mobile entertainment industry will grow to one billion dollar market by 2010, Mr Neeraj Roy, CEO of Hungama, a media content developing company, said today.
Talking to UNI from Mumbai, Mr Roy said, Indian mobile entertainment market is growing at leaps and bounds unlike China which is a matured market with a 1.5 billion dollar market size.
''With the telecom market in India growing at a fast pace, we can expect the gaming industry to grow as well. The mobile has four segments of entertainment which include music, imagery, video and games. All these segment have huge growth potential,'' he said.
''Consumers are shifting from voice to data. People are attracted to devices with better storage capability and multimedia. With the telecom industry heading towards 4G technology regime, we expect more growth in the mobile entertainment segment,'' Mr Roy said.
Speaking about the company's plans, Mr Roy said, ''We are also planning to develop a special mobile music application which would enable an users to talk with other users with music in the background.'' Hungama has developed certain internet gaming based on various current Hindi films like Don.
The company is planning to launch similar games like 'Salam-e-Isq', 'Bhagam Bhag' and Amitabh Bacchan's 'Babul'. It has also developed a software through which the whole 'Dhoom 2' film would be available to mobile users in UK, US, Singapore and Malayasia.
