Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherkee to visit Nepal

Kathmandu, Dec 1 (UNI) India's External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will visit Nepal on December 17 to invite Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala to the 14th SAARC Summit scheduled to be held in New Delhi in April next year.

Foreign Secretary S S Menon met Nepal's Deputy Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs K P Oli here and informed him about the visit of Mr Mukherjee.

Confirmimg the news, Mr Oli said, ''Mr Menon informed us that the Indian Foreign Minister is willing to visit Nepal on December 17 to invite the Prime Minister to attend the 14th SAARC Summit.'' Meanwhile, after the meeting, Mr Menon said, ''we had very useful extensive views and we discussed the relationship and prospects of relationship and how to carry it further.'' He also assured the leaders that India will continue to cooperate with the Nepali government to restore democracy and peace there.

During the visit, Mr Menon also met the Prime Minister and other top bureaucrats of the Nepali government and discussed about the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
