England rally to reach 266-3

ADELAIDE, Dec 1 (Reuters) England ere 266 for three in their first innings at the close of play on the first day of the second Ashes test at Adelaide Oval today.

Paul Collingwood was unbeaten on 98 with Kevin Pietersen on 60 after the pair had shared an unbroken partnership of 108.

Ian Bell also chipped with a patient 60 to help rebuild the innings after England lost Andrew Strauss (14) and Alastair Cook (27) before lunch.
