Election petition against K M Mani dismissed
Kochi, Dec 1 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today dismissed the election petition filed by Mani C Kappan challenging the election of his rival K M Mani from Palai in the April Assembly elections.
The petitioner alleged that Mr Mani filed a false affidavit along with his nomination papers, suppressing materials and omitting to mention the dues he allegedly owed to the tourism department.
Dismissing the petition, Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishnan said even if the affidavit filed by Mr Mani did not disclose dues allegedly outstanding from him to the tourism department, it could not have led to the rejection of his nomination papers.
The court said the petitioner's plea that Mr Mani had not shown in his affidavit the 'debt' was not a ground to set aside his election.
