Curfew imposed in Aurangabad

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Dec 1 (UNI) Curfew was clamped in the city from 2000 hrs tonight till 0600 hrs tomorrow as a precautionary measure after the violence sparked off by the desecration of bust of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in Kanpur.

City Police Commissioner Uddhav Kamble made the announcement to this effect tonight.

The city witnessed large-scale violence for the last two days.

Police were forced to open fire in the air at least on three occasions yesterday, when they failed to control the violent mob in various parts of the city, police sources said.

The police have rounded up a number of miscreants during combing operations.
