CPI(M) displeased over delay in placing ST Bill in Parliament

Ranchi, Dec 1 (UNI) The CPI(M) Jharkhand unit today expressed displeasure over the delay in placing the Scheduled Tribe(Recognition of Forest Rights) Bill, 2005 during the ongoing winter session of Parliament so far and warned of agtation.

The party's state secretariat met here today under the chairmanship of Mr Rajendra Singh Munda and discussed their delegations' meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on November 24 on the issue.

The delegation had called on the Pime Minister for discussion on the adoption of the Bill in the current session with the amendments as suggested by the Joint Action Committee.

The secretariat noted that the Centre had not brought the Bill for discussion till date.

''The timber mafias, elite environmentalists and forest ministry are obstructing in accepting the ammendments and passage of the Bill,'' Party Secretary J S Madumdar said.

The CPI(M) secretariat called upon its units, members and supporters as well as all forest dwellers to bring out rallies and hold protest meetings against delay in bringing the Bill by the Government.
