CPI Secy justifies support to Cong in bypolls

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Dec 1 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (CPI) Andhra Pradesh Secretary K Narayana today justified his party's support to the Congress in coming Lok Sabha By-elections in Bobbili and Karimnagar as ''it was a choice between two evils.'' Speaking to reporters here, Dr Narayana admitted, his party was assailing the Congress' policies 'day in and day out.' The choice was between the corrupt Congress and the 'fundamentalist' BJP and they 'chose the lesser evil.' When asked why his party cannot remain neutral, the CPI leader replied ''we are not saints.'' Dr Narayana stated the Karimnagar byelections and the row over the mandatory skull sign on beedi packs had 'eclipsed' the separatist Telangana sentiments.
