CBI arrests Passport Officer, his agent

Jammu, Dec 1: The Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) has arrested a Regional Passport Officer and his agent for allegedly accepting a gratification from a civilian of Rajouri for issuing his passport.

Official sources said the CBI took into custody RPO Bakshi Singh from his office as soon as his agent Fizarat Ahmed of Talab Khatikan was caught red handed accepting Rs 3000 from Basharat Hussain of Rajouri in Gandhi Nagar office of Regional Passport Officer here yesterday.

Bakshi Singh and Hussain were arrested by the CBI in the presence of eye-witnesses and a Magistrate, sources said.

A case has been registered against both of them. A sum of Rs 23,000 was recovered from them.

After the raid, the CBI raided Bakshi's house at Poonch and seized some documents and also recovered Rs 23,000 from him, sources said.
