BSF celebrates 41st raising day
Srinagar, Dec 1 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF), one of the world's largest paramilitary force, celebrated its 41st raising day at the frontier headquarters here today.
The force has eliminated about 25,00 militants and seized more than 12,000 assorted weapons and over 9 lakh rounds of ammunition in various operations in Kashmir, a BSF spokesman said here.
However, the BSF also lost its 701 personnel in combating militancy in the Valley, he added.
The spokesman said the force has also played a significant role in rebuilding bridges of confidence with the people of Kashmir and undertaken a number of welfare measures.
So far, more than 370 children from various parts of Kashmir have been sent on 'Bharat Darshan' tour, he added.
The spokesman said various schools, orphanages, villages have been adopted by the BSF and a number of medical camps organised every year to distribute medicine to the needy and poor.
