BSF celebrates 41st founding day at Academy

Tekanpur, MP, Dec 1 (UNI) Underlining the fact that the Border Security Force is the world's largest paramilitary body, BSF Academy Director A K Sirolia recalled the Force's contribution during the 1971 Indo-Pak War as the BSF celebrated its 41st founding day.

''The Force has made a crucial contribution to the country's unity and integrity. Defending the democratic process and maintaining communal harmony cost the lives of 1,342 personnel.

Faraway and mountainous borders are being guarded as per our motto 'Jeevan paryant kartavya','' Mr Sirolia told mediapersons here today.

Schools and hospitals are being opened in distant places.

When asked about the BSF's counter-terrorism preparedness, the officer replied, ''as per its vision and mission, the Force is readying its officers and men physically and psychologically.'' He assured that the Sixth Pay Commission's attention would be drawn to wage anomalies.

Earlier, the Director payed floral tributes to the martyrs and took the salute at a glittering parade. Various competitions involving jawans, women and children were organised. Personnel who were handicapped on duty alongwith and widows were honoured.
