New Delhi, Dec 1: The BJP has decided to move a Private Member's resolution in both Houses of Parliament on the issue of a demand for a separate state of Telangana in the nex sessiion.

Talking to newspersons, BJP spokesperson and Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha Sushma Swaraj said that she had given notice for proposing to introduce the State of Telangana Bill, 2006, in the next session of Rajya Sabha and sought the permission of President APJ Abdul Kalam for the same through a letter, dated November 28.

She said she had also requested the Home Minister to forward her request to the President, as required under the Constitution.

Mrs Swaraj said in the letter she had pointed out that there had been persistent demand for a separate State of Telangana as the Telangana region continued to be most backward region in the state due to ''apathy of successive state governments.'' She said the people of the region were agitating for a separate state for quite long. Their aspirations of development can be fulfilled only by creating a separate state of Telangana.

''I, therefore, earnestly request your honour to recommend under Article 3, 117 (1) and 274 (1) of the Constitution for introduction of the Bill in the Rajya Sabha,'' Mrs Swaraj said.

She said BJP MP Santosh Gangwar would also be seeking permission to move similar bill in the Lok Sabha.
