New Delhi, Dec 1 (UNI) Emboldened by its recent successes in the recently concluded civic polls, the BJP today decided to meet President A P J Abdul Kalam demanding President's Rule in Uttar Pradesh for ensuring free and fair Assembly polls.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of top BJP leaders in the presence of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Leader of Opposition L K Advani and BJP President Rajnath Singh.

The leaders will meet the President as and when they get an appointment.

Expressing confidence that the BJP was in a position to form the government on its own, senior party leader and BJP's Chief Ministerial nominee Kalyan Singh ruled out possibility of any alliance. We will have enough strength to form the government after elections, he said emerging after a two-hour long meeting.

Mr Singh a former Chief Minister of the State said people desperately were looking for an alternative to Mulayam Singh Government and BSP Chief Mayawati certainly could not be an option because the people had the experience of seeing the work of all the three governments -- SP, BSP and BJP.

"People want the BJP Government back", he said.

The BJP, he said could not afford to strike any alliance after their experience with Mayawati and Ajit Singh parties. Our party should contest on its own and draw support from the people, he remarked.

He said he provided good governance giving ultimatum to criminals who were ruling the roost. They will have to wind up their show within 30 days. They have to go to jail or leave UP and the third option is to evaporate into thin air, he said.

Mr Singh said the party was well prepared to face the elections and the booth level planning was in place. There will be 20 youths on each polling booth.

He said the Party would be selecting its candidates based on winnability and youths and women would be accomodated wherever possible. After the local body elections, the party which was given an 'outside chance' by the media was now on the center stage. The shortlisting would be over by the end of December and will be taken up after the proposed National Executive scheduled for 22,23 and 24 at Lucknow, he added.
