Armed conflict attains paradigmatic form of pol resistance:Guv
Shillong, Dec 1 (UNI) Armed conflict in the North East has almost attained a paradigmatic form as the expression of political resistance.
''While some sustain themselves for decades, others have been more transitory and nascent,'' Meghalaya Governor M M Jacob said today.
''The Naga movement has spread to not only the seven sister states of the north eastern region but has also engulfed the northern parts of West Bengal,'' Mr Jacob said while inaugurating a seminar on ''Armed Struggle, Development and Governance at Women's College here.
Since, armed challenges are the most effective and natural means of expressing the resistance, he said the region is itself often regarded as 'conflict-ridden', without any distinction regarding the variety of armed resistances.
Mr Jacob said that armed conflict had become the most chosen political idiom of expressing the political opposition and pursuing political goals running parallel to other democratic modes and procedures.
