AR troops provide electricity in rural areas

Imphal, Dec 1 (UNI) The troops of 22 Assam Rifles (AR) at Maram in Tripura's Senapati district have constructed a Mini Hydro Electric Plant in Thingba Khunou under Purul sub-division.

Built with a maximum capacity of 7.5 KVA, it produces about 3.5-4 KVA despite inadequate running water, the AR PRO said.

'' This power is sufficient to light over 300 CFL bulbs of 9-11 watts, thereby providing electricity to each house,'' the PRO added.

The villagers have expressed their happiness over the effort of the AR troops and Colonel V S Malik, sources added.

A traditional monolith had been unveiled yesterday by the village authority to appreciate the troops.

Earlier, the troops had constructed a similar Hydro Electric Plant at a remote Bendramei village and one is near completion at Maiba village in Senapati.
