After hosting 'Koffee with Karan', Karan to make TV shows

New Delhi, Dec 1 (UNI) Karan Johar's fascination with the small screen continues! After enthralling television viewers as the host of the the famous talk show 'Koffee With Karan', Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar will now pitch in with new programming ideas and concepts to entertain television viewers.

Karan's production house, Dharma Productions, which has given to Bollywood several blockbuster films like 'Kuch Kuch Hota hai', Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham', 'Kal Ho Na Ho' and the most recent 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna', will produce 'entertainment-based' shows for NDTV's Entertainment channel, to be launched next year.

''Karan Johar will help originate concepts and new programming ideas for the channel and will be an ambassador for the NDTV entertainment brand. Karan Johar and his production company, Dharma Productions, will work exclusively with NDTV to achieve new levels of excellence in entertainment programming,''sources in the NDTV said.

Under a recent tie up tie-up between NDTV and Dharma Productions, Karan's production house will produce shows for NDTV's Entertainment channel. The channel will have first right of refusal on any programmes that Dharma produces for television.

Further, Karan Johar will be on the board of NDTV's Entertainment company, and Dharma productions will hold an equity stake in it.

Says Karan Johar,''for me this partnership between NDTV and Dharma Productions is not just a professional association... it's a family bonding and I believe in the power of the family! What a family can do together no individual can do on his own. This family is going to be at a TV screen near you, creating all the celebration possible.'' NDTV recently announced its decision to launch an entertainment channel in partnership with Dharma Productions.

The launch of the new entertainment channel will be part of NDTV's expansion beyond the news, the sources said.
