Accused gets bail in murder case

Kochi, Dec 1 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today granted conditional bail to Shiby, fourth accused in the Kanichukulangara murder case.

Bail was granted on his executing a bond of Rs 50,000 with two solvent sureties for the like sum to the satisfaction of the Judicial First Class Magistrate, Alappuzha.

Opposing the petition for bail, Additional Director-General of Prosecution submitted that if the petitioner was released on bail now it would affect smooth investigation of the case.

Counsel for the petitioner told the Court that the accused had been under custody for more than 465 days.

Allowing the petition, Mr Justice V Ramkumar said the case was still at investigation stage and it was not known when it would be completed. The Court added that three other accused in the case had already been granted bail.
