30 foreigners apprehended in Mizoram

Aizawl, Dec 1 (UNI) At least 30 people of foriegn origin were apprehended and handed over to police during anti-foreigner drive in bordering areas of Mizoram conducted by the Young Mizo Association, the biggest NGO of Mizoram.

Apart from them, Mizoram police have arrested 17 outsiders in past two days from different parts of the state for misusing Inner Line Permits (ILP).

''Most of the foreigners are from Bangladesh and we sought their judicial remand for pushing them back while the outsiders were found from various India-states who were doing business, violating the ILP norms,'' said a senior police officer here today.
