Writer calls for making Telugu mandatory in schools
Tirupati, Nov 30 (UNI) The Telugu language must be made compulsory upto standard five in government and private schools, litterateur Dr C N Reddy said.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the seven-day 'Sahithi Samskruthi Mahotsavams' (SSM) organised by Telugu 'Samskruthi Vikas Vedika' (TSVV) here, Dr Reddy, a Gnanapith awardee, stressed the need to introduce Telugu in lower standards to protect the 'Telugu Samskruthi'.
On the Andhra Pradesh Government's move to introduce English from standard one, he said he had appealed to the government to introduce Telugu instead.
