New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) A resolution finally seems in sight on the ongoing transport row between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh with the UP Government releasing all the DTC buses confiscated by it two weeks ago.

''All of the over 100 DTC buses confiscated by the UP Government two weeks ago have been released following the first round of talks between the transport commissioners of the two states, held over the last two days,''a spokesperson for the Delhi Transport department said.

The spokesperson said in the talks, the two sides agreed on the need to resolve the row to pave the way for resumption of bus services between the two states.

The bus services between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh was suspended after the Delhi Transport department impounded some buses of the UP Transport Department, saying that they were operating as city services, something which ran contrary to the 2004 agreement signed between the two state governments.

In retaliation, UP also confiscated over 100 DTC buses operating in Noida, which led to the DTC suspending its services to Uttar Pradesh with UP following suit.

Then, on a petition by the UP Government last week, the Delhi High Court directed the two governments to hold a dialogue to resolve the matter in public interest.

Following this, a six-member team of the Delhi Government headed by the Transport commissioner of Delhi, left for Lucknow on Monday night to hold talks with the UP authorities to resolve the ongoing transport row between the two states.

During the last two days, the two sides held talks with officials of the UP Transport Department to discuss ways to solve the present impasse.
