Two injured in boat accident

Puducherry,Nov 30(UNI) Two persons were injured when the boat in which they ventured into the sea here today sank at the sea mouth following high tides.

According to police, four fishermen ventured into the sea from Thengaithittu fishing harbour in a fibre boat owned by one Kannadasan early this morning. When the boat reached the sea mouth from the Sankarabharani river high tides struck the boat which capzised, injuring Madhavan and Sekhar. Two others including Kannadasan escaped unhurt.

Nearby boats rushed and rescued them, who were being treated in a private hospital here. The fishermen lost a fishing net worth Rs 1.5 lakhs in the sea and the boat was also damaged. With the sea remaining rough, the fishermen who ventured into the sea were contacted over cellphones and walkee-talkee and were asked to return to the shore, a fisherman from Veerampatinam said.
