Three persons killed, 1500 arrested outside Mumbai: Pasricha
Mumbai, Nov 30 (UNI) Three people have been killed, one of them in police firing, since last night and 1500 people arrested in connection with violence in Maharashtra in the wake of the desecration of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's statue at Kanpur on Tuesday.
Addressing mediapersons, Director General of Police (DGP) Dr P S Pasricha said three persons were killed, one of them in police firing at Osmanabad. One person was crushed by a truck while trying to stop vehicles and one person was beaten to death by shopkeepers at Pimpri-Chinchwad when he was forcing them to close down their shutters.
Dr Pasricha said outside Mumbai 1500 people have been arrested.
More than 50 police personnel were injured in stone pelting and some 20 people received minor injuries.
Stone throwing incidents were also reported from Latur, Vashi, Osmanabad, Nashik, Pimpri-chinchwad, Beed, Turbhe, Ulhasnagar, Thane district and other parts of the state, the DGP said adding that Seven buses were damaged and more than 15 vehicles burnt by a rampaging mob.
