The PSU's under Steel Ministry performed well upto Oct 2006

New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) The public sector steel major Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has produced 1.07 Million tonnes (MT) of saleable steel during October 2006 as against a target of 1.045 MT.

According to Steel Ministry sources, the Vizag Steel Plant (VSP) another psu produced 0.276 MT of saleable steel as against a target of 0.254 MT.

The cumulative production of these two companies during April-October 2006 was 7.117 MT and 1.837 MT respectively against 6.736 MT and 1.835 MT produced during the same period last year.

The Andhra Pradesh based National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) produced 2.11 MT of iron ore during October 2006 and its cumulative production during April to October of the year was 11.80 MT. Similarly, the Karnataka based Kudremukh Iron Ore Company (KIOCL) produced 62 Thousand Tonnes of pellets the month and its cumulative production upto October was 1.8 MT.

The Maharashtra based Manganese Ore India Limited (MOIL) produced 83,344 tonnes of Manganese ore during the month against a target of 74,670 tonnes and 4,99,873 tonnes during the first nine months of the year, against 4,45,495 tonnes during the same period last year.

The company produced 920 tonnes of Ferro Manganese and 128 tonnes of FMD during the month against a target of 700 and 118 tonnes respectively. The cumulative production upto October are 5880 tonnes and 760 tonnes respectively against 2350 tonnes and 716 tonnes produced during the same period in the previous year.

Bharat Refracotories Limited (BRL) produced 6945 tonnes of refractories against a target of 6304 tonnes during October. During April to October , this year it produced 47,880 tonnes of refractories against 45,278 tonnes during the same period last year.
