TDP activist in custody for carrying money in Karimnagar
Karimnagar, Andhra Pradesh, Nov 30 (UNI) The Police today took into custody a TDP activist from Karimnagar for allegedly carrying money along with the party's election pamphlets.
Police said TDP activist Mohana Reddy, who had recently joined the TDP, was found carrying Rs five lakh in cash along with some party material, while they were conducting a routine vehicle check at Sircilla here.
The money was seized from him as he failed to give an account of its origin.
When contacted, Mohana Reddy said he was carrying the money to Karimnagar to pay off his debt and would prove the source of the money.
About the party material, he said as a party worker, it was quite natural for him to carry it.
Following his arrest, the TRS workers staged a dharna and alleged that the TDP was distributing money to woo voters for the Karimnagar by-election scheduled on December 4.
