Skoda sweeps NE market
Guwahati, Nov 30(UNI) Auto giant Skoda has captured the upper class automobile market with 30 per cent share of the North East India.
Despite the perceived notion of economic sluggishness in region, the Skoda is happy at its performance in the region as the auto market have been booming.
Addressing the media, Overland Auto(P) Ltd Director Atikur Rahman said most of the buyers were actually upgrading their existing vehicles from the three basic models of Skoda.
''Due to quality products and services, the Skoda has been miles ahead from our nearest rivals and we do not have problems in growing our business. We are mostly relying on referral promotion rather than hitting the market with advertisements all around,'' said Mr Rahaman.
With high customer satisfaction and a reputed clientele led by Asom Governor Lt Gen S K Sinha, Skoda is slowly making their presence felt all over the hills.
''In small places like Nongpoh, I could sell five cars in the recent months. That show how much we have penetrated in the upper segment'' said a beaming Atikur Rahman.
With entry-level cars coming on road at a price over Rs 12 lakh and going up till Rs 21 lakh, the Skoda is adored by the business class of the Hilly states as well as Upper Asom, he added.
''We are the sole dealer but our people are everywhere in the region. Since we deal only with reputed client base, we do not have much problem in servicing them,'' he said.
Himself a National lever rally driver of repute, Mr Rahman said that they are looking for the three new models which are coming up new year.
Regarding the India operations, he said within a span of three years, the Skoda Auto India has grown rapidly with 2000 car owner families and more than 36 dealers across the country.
