Shekhawat to inaugurate Agro Tech fair tomorrow

Chandigarh, Nov 30 (UNI) The 7th biennial Agro Tech fair, being organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), will be inaugurated here tomorrow by Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

The four-day fair will feature seven concurrent shows--Agri Expo, Agri Services Showcase, Biotech 2006, Dairy Expo, Food Expo, Poultry and Livestock Expo and Farm Tech, Agro Tech chairman Ajay S ShriRam told reporters here today.

It would provide an excellent opportunity to the investors, input manufacturers, agricultural traders for promoting their activities and products in the North, including agro chemicals, agro fertilisers, horticulture and floriculture, he said.

''The farmers visiting the fair would get an exposure to the best in agriculture techniques and advance technologies,'' he said.

Agri Theatres and Kisan Goshthis would also be conducted for the farmers. ''We have aimed at showcasing live trading of Agri products so as to enable the Indian farmer to be abreast with the latest in physical, electronic and knolwledge connectivities,'' he said.

Over 2,00,000 visitors, including farmers, agro-specialists, and company representatives from food industry and government officials would be participating in the event.

The Netherlands is the partner country in the fair.
