Shankarachaya performs 'Ramkot Parikrama' under tight security
Ayodhya, Nov 30 (UNI) Under tight security, Jagatguru Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati today performed the 'parikrama' of the disputed Ram Janmabhoomi complex here.
Accompanied by an estimated 30,000 saints and 'karsewaks', the Jyotish Peethadhish and Dwarkasharda Peethadhisvar performed the 'parikrama' amid chants of 'Ramlala hum ayenge, madir wahin banayenge' (Lord Ram, we shall construct the temple here).
Earlier addressing a gathering, he vindicated that his 'parikrama' should not be mixed with politics, as it is purely a religious rite to kickstart the temple movement.
''The 'parikrama' will exort Hindus to come forward for the construction of a grand Ram temple at the disputed site.'' He further said the ritual would remove all the obstacles in the path of the temple movement.
Meanwhile, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) alleged that the motive behind the 'parikrama' was to divide the saints community.
