Senior Volleyball Championship to begin from Dec 3

Pathanamthitta, Nov 30 (UNI) The 36th State Senior Volleyball Championship will be held at Mylapra near here from December three to ten.

Talking to mediapersons a press conference here today, District Collector and Chief Coordinator of the event Asok Kumar Singh said men and women teams from all the 14 districts would participate in the championship, which was organised under the aegis of Pathanamthitta District Volleyball Association.

The matches would be conducted on league-cum-knockout basis.

The opening match would be played between Kollam and Alappuzha.

The event would also be a platform for the selection of state men and women teams for the National Volleyball Championship scheduled to be held at Raipur in Chattisgarh from December 25 to January three, he said.

Kerala Transport Minister Mathew T Thomas would inaugurate the championship.

The construction of a temporary gallery, with a sitting capacity of 10,000, was completed.

Around 1000 players and 150 officials would arrive here for the championship, he added.
