SC directs Mizoram to separate judiciary by Dec 15

Aizawl, Nov 30 (UNI) The Supreme Court (SC) has directed the Mizoram government to complete the process of separating the judiciary from the executive by December 15.

Chief Minister Zoramthanga had already left for Guwahati to discuss the issue with the Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court following the apex court's direction.

Referring the SC's verdict, Mizoram Bar Association president C Lalramzauva said the apex court had asked the state government to issued affidavits to this effect latest by December 15.

He said the governance over keeping the judiciary seperation in abeyance had stalled the separation process.

''By repealing the notification that had given control and administration to the state's judicial officers of the Guwahati High Court, the state government delayed the process,'' he said.

Mr Lalramzauva stated that the state's judicial system is in chaos as the repealed laws were still being enforced to administer justice.

He also alleged that the state government was acting illogically.
