Rajkot's 'Gopal' milk now to sell under 'Amul' brand

Rajkot, Nov 30 (UNI) Rajkot Jilla Cooperative Dudh Utpadak Sangh ltd, which is packing and marketing the milk under 'Gopal' brand in the district, is now selling it under brand name of 'Amul' from tomorrow.

Addressing mediapersons here today, company chairman Govindbhai Ranparia said that as per the agreement with Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, to shelve local brand and to sell under 'Amul', the Rajkot Jilla Cooperative Dudh Utpadak Sangh would start selling the milk under brand name 'Amul' from tomorrow after completing all 'administrative' procedure.

They had already agreed to shelve local brands to sell under 'Amul' brand in September, 5 2006, the chairman said.

Rajkot Jilla Cooperative Dudh Utpadak Sangh is selling 'milk and other milk products since last 47 years.

The Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federaration, pioneering in Food Industries has whooping turnover of Rs 3,700 crore anually, has tied up with 12 cooperative unions to sell milk under 'Amul' brand, Mr Ranparia said.

Presently, the milk under 'Gopal' brand, the dairy's daily sell of milk is 50,000 to 60,000 litre and now it would extend upto two lakh litres per day in one year, he said.

Mr Ranparia clarified that there is no change in brand name of our other products such as ''Ghee, Chhas (butter milk), Penda (sweet) and flavoured milk.

The dairy has 50 milk parlours in the city and nearly 600 milk distribution centres and it would extend in Wankaner, Godnal, Jetpur, Dhoraji, Upleta, Jasdan and Shapar-veraval and would increase the sell to 85,000 litre per day in near future.

Managing Director A C Sinha said under one 'umbrella', the cooperative society would be able to beat the multinationals at their own game by motivating its stakeholders, including the humble milk producers to perform and deliver at their best.
