Police opens fire in Aurangabad to quell mob
Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Nov 30: Two policemen were injured in stone pelting at Sanjay Nagar locality here last evening, forcing the Mukundwadi police to open one round of firing in the air to quell the violent mob protesting against the desecration of the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in Kanpur.
Confirming the incident, police sources at the city control room said the mob of about one thousand people resorted to stone pelting at the police at Sanjay Nagar, forcing them to open one round of firing in the air to disperse the violent mob.
The mob damaged five buses, two of them belonging to the state transport corporation, besides damaging a number of shops and business establishments in Jawahar Colony, Mukundwadi, Aamkhas, Pundliknagar and Harsul, police sources said.
The buses were stoned in various parts of the city including Jalna road and Begampura.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Eknath Budhwant said police deployment has been intensified in the affected areas.
