Parents torture own daughter

Khargone, MP, Nov 30 (UNI) A 15-year-old girl in this district's Aghawan village has been tortured by her own parents.

The victim Bharti and her uncle Shrikrishna Karma lodged a written complaint today in the presence of Superintendent of Police Rakesh Gupta. Karma alleged that his brother Sitaram and sister-in-law Aneeta, who reside in Indore's Rajnagar locality, want to kill Bharti.

The girl, now staying with her paternal great-grandmother Yashodabai and grandmother Ayodhya Bai at Aghawan, said, ''my father tortures me with cigarette burns while my mother used a hot iron rod to scald my back and hands.'' The motive is unclear. On a few earlier occasions, Sitaram forced Bharti into trains with the intention that she would be lost but the girl managed to reach her uncle with help from the police. The couple behave normally with their other children Pinky and Rahul.

''As the case pertains to Indore, a letter has been addressed to the SP there,'' said Mr Gupta.
