No place for 'Migratory Birds,' says Jaya
Chennai, Nov 30 (UNI) Dubbing party members who had shifted loyalty to other parties as 'Migratory Birds', AIADMK Supremo J Jayalalithaa today said these workers would not be reinducted into the party.
Speaking at a marriage here, she said whenever the party lost power, it had become a habit for some functionaries to move to other parties like migratory birds.
She said after the AIADMK lost the 1996 Assembly poll, some quit the party, but when it came out with a bang in the 1998 General Polls and also formed part of the government at the Centre, 'workers, who ditched the party, were reinducted by me like an affectionate mother'.
Similar was the story when the AIADMK captured power in 2001 and more such 'birds' were reinducted.
After the debacle in the May 2006 polls, some birds sought refuge in other nests.
Stating that losing the elections was only a temporary setback to the party, she said times would change and the party would come back to power. 'If they want to come back, they will find no place in the party', she declared.
Henceforth only true loyalists in the party would be rewarded, she added.
