New US ambassador to Pakistan

Islamabad, Nov 30 (UNI) US Ambassador to Pakistan Ryan Crocker is expected to be replaced by David Satterfield, another career diplomat who served as Charge d'Affaires of the US embassy in Baghdad.

Mr Satterfield became Deputy Chief of mission at Baghdad in May 2005. He was principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs from June 1, 2004 and Deputy Assistant Secretary for the previous three years, newspaper Daily Times reported.

Mr Satterfield was Ambassador to Lebanon from September 1998 to June 2001. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, he has also served on the National Security Council Staff as director for Near Eastern and South Asian Affairs and as director of the Department of State's Office of Israel and Arab-Israeli Affairs.
