My journey was not easy: Teejan Bai
Agra, Nov 30 (UNI) Renowned Pandavni singer -- Teejan Bai, who has won many accolades in India and across the border, today said her rise to fame was not easy.
Talking to UNI here, the noted singer said ''I started singing at the age of thirteen. I had to burn the midnight oil to get the blessings of Goddess Saraswati.'' Teejan Bai said her grandfather was an immense source of inspiration without which she would not have been able to prove herself.
''I think singing is a talent. No one can teach singing. One can just polish the talent which a person possesses. Today I am training 150 singers to carry on the tradition of classical singing,'' she said.
''Classical singing is not an easy job. It is not everyone's cup of tea as it requires thorough practice and dedication.'' Talking about Pandavni singing, she said there are two styles of singing. In Vedmati style, a singer sits and sing, while in Kalpanik style, one needs to stand and sing.
