Mullaperiyar talks outcome on expected lines: PMK

Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu, Nov 30 (UNI) PMK Founder-Leader S Ramadoss today said the outcome of the talks between Kerala and Tamil Nadu on Mullaperiyar Dam was on expected lines.

Speaking to newsmen at his Thailapuram residence near here, Dr Ramadoss said as expected, the talks between the Chief Ministers had not led to any solution.

Kerala Chief Minister V S Achutanandan had already decided not to raise the storage level and he (Dr Ramadoss) had already informed Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi about it.

The only solution was nationalisation of rivers and the Centre should find ways to divert surplus water to deficient states.

The Centre could also set up a body on the lines of the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and give it the powers to divert the water.

Dr Ramadoss said the Tamil Nadu Government should implementing the Supreme Court Judgement on Mullaperiyar increasing the storage level to 142 feet from 136 feet by issuing a GO.
