Leading B-School to set up state of art campus

Chennai, Nov 30 (UNI) Great Lakes Institute of Management (GLIM), a leading B-School, will set up a state-of-the-art campus on the East Coast Road near here.

Announcing this at a press conference, GLIM Executive Director S Sriram said the three-year-old B-School, which was currently being run in leased premises, had acquired 14 acres of land and planned a built up area of 1,25,000 sqft in the first phase.

The campus would be a complete residential one with facilities like hostels, amphitheatres, electronic classrooms, auditorium, staff quarters and spacious playgrounds.

The construction activity would begin in January and the first phase would be ready in a year, he added.

Mr Sriram said a sum of Rs 25 crore alone would be invested on civil construction and furnishing.

Stating that the institute was focusing on enhancement of its knowledge capital by taking new faculty on board, he said GLIM had announced a few more Chair professorships, in addition to the existing ones.

TVS Electronics Managing Director Gopal Srinivasan and Jamcracker Inc Chairman K B Chandrasekar had donated Rs one crore each for setting up the prestigious chair professorship in two domains, he added.

He said the Institute had identified its core competence in the area of marketing and it aimed to become a school reputed for marketing excellence.

To take marketing focus further, the Institute along with marketing legend Dr Philip Kotler, had announced setting up of 'Kotler-Srinivasan Center for Marketing Research' for enhancing marketing based research in India, he said.
