Lucknow, Nov 30 (UNI) Although Indian Muslims have deep reverence towards religion, their day-to-day life is not being governed by Islamic laws, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind said today.

To spread awareness about Islamic Shariat, the organisation would launch a 10-day door-to-door campaign from tomorrow across the country.

''The daily life of Muslims is not upto the mark...a large number of them are not aware of Islamic regulations about nikah, talaq, khula and inheritence,'' Jamaat's secretary Muhammed Rafeeque Quasmi said here.

He said their lack of awareness at times created misunderstanding about the religion and its followers amongst countrymen. ''This misunderstanding often gives birth to anti-Islam propaganda.'' The important issues to be covered under the campaign include how marriage is easy if followed as per the Shariat; inheritence of father's property by daughters; dowry and the role of women in establishing a strong family system; marriage of widows and divorced women and the importance of Shariat panchyats.

To spread the campaign, Jamaat activists would carry out a door-to-door campaign in different areas and hold seminars and public meetings.
