Inordinate delay in flood assistance to Orissa: BJD MPs

New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) BJD MPs in the Lok Sabha today questioned the government in the Lok Sabha over the delay in providing flood relief to Orissa.

Raising the issue during zero hour, Mr Bhartruhari Mahtab said the state government had sought over Rs 2,000 crore as flood relief, but the Centre had so far given only Rs 25 crore.

He wanted to know why the Home Ministry was taking so much time to provide relief when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh while visiting the flood-hit state had assured adequate and timely assistance.

Other BJD members also associated themselves with the issue.
