India blank Yemen 3-0 in inconsequential TT match

Doha, Nov 30 (UNI) India's men team blanked lowly Yemen 3-0 in an inconsequential match to complete their league assignment in the Table Tennis event of the Asian Games here today.

India, who had lost to Japan 1-3 and China 0-3 yesterday to be out of contention, thus registered a consolation win in Group A.

The Yemenis caved in before the Indians without much ado as Achanta Sharath Kamal, Subhajit Saha and Jitendra Gidla recorded easy wins over their rivals.

Sharath Kamal routed Mohammed Al Hashedi 13-11, 11-5, 11-7 and then Subhajit made it 2-0 in favour of his team defeating Fahd Gubran 11-6, 11-9, 11-3.

Gidla then outplayed Zeyad Al Shaik 11-9, 11-2, 11-2 to give India the unassailable lead.
