Highway bandh affects life in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 30 (UNI) The traffic on the two highways at Manipur remained disrupted for the second day following a 48 hour bandh called by the JACPTD on November 29.

The strike was called against the attachment of Tousem Sub-Division of Tamenglong district to the Divisional Forest Office of Jiribam sub-division of East District, sources said.

The Joint Action Committee for Protection of Tamenglong District (JACPTD) had demanded that the Tousem Sub-Division should not be attached to the Divisional Forest Office of another district.

Large numbers of vehicles were stranded at the Manipur-Nagaland and Assam borders.

Police said about 200 trucks were brought here under tight security yesterday.
