Govt exercises no control over print media: Dasmunsi

New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) The government today said the United News of India (UNI) news agency is a media company registered under the Companies Act, 1956, and its affairs are governed by the shareholders through their representatives on the Board of Directors.

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Information and Broadcasting Minister P R Dasmunsi said his ministry exercised no control over the print media.

The Minister made this statement while replying to a query from Mr Moinul Hassan, who wanted to know the factors that led to the present financial condition of UNI and its handing over to a private media group.
