Free lands, free CTVs distribution would begin in Dec-Jan

Chennai, Nov 30 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government today announced that the second phase of distribution of free lands and free colour television sets would begin in December and January respectively.

An official release here said the process of procuring 25 lakh colour televisions for distribution in the second phase has commenced and the companies would start supplying the sets from January next, when the second phase would be launched.

As far as distribution of two acres of developed wastelands to the landless poor was concerned, the release said when the scheme was launched in September last, it was announced that it would continue once in three months.

Accordingly, the second phase would begin on December 17 in all the districts. Similarly, the government had already announced that the free gas stoves distribution scheme would be launched on Pongal Day in January.

While 1.5 lakh stoves would be distributed in January, another 1.5 lakh stoves would be distributed by March 31, the release said and asked people not to believe false reports with regard to the free schemes, appearing in a section of the press.
