FINER seeks modification NE industrial policy
Aizawl, Nov 30 (UNI) Federation of Industries of North Eastern region (FINER) today urged the Centre to finalise the proposal to modify the North East Industrial Policy 1997.
FINER had submitted a memorandum to the ministry recently urging to implement the policy for industrial development of the region.
FINER officials here said both the federation and NE states were against the extension of the incentives to the entrepreuners. This move had cornered bulk of the investments, leaving the region high and dry.
Depite NE states calculated annual export of Rs 1130 crore, centre had not constituted export promotion councils for the region so far, the officials said.
They also added that the region had been contributing Rs 1,000 crore exports with tea accounting for 60 per cent, coal and cement 20 per cent.
