Fernandes urges SC to act against 'high and mighty'
New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) National Democratic Alliance Convenor George Fernandes today urged the Supreme Court to bring to book all those who have looted the public money just as it has done by reopening cases of murder and rape involving the high and mighty.
In a statement, coinciding with the release of a book 'Who Owns CBI' by former CBI Joint Director B R Lall, Mr Fernandes said ''The book has exposed a large number of political leaders from those connected to the Havala case of the 90s to the role played by Italian fugitive Ottavio Quattrochi who was allowed to walk away with a potful of money cocking a snook at the Indian establishment.'' He congratulated the former CBI Joint Director for exposing the influential involved in several cases of corruption.
''Now that Mr Lall has named all those involved in looting of the country, it is only proper that these should be brought to justice, by considering Mr Lall, a former IPS official a witness,'' he added.
Mr Fernandes said the book, which was released by former Chief Election Commissioner J M Lyngdoh this evening, has exposed the ''naked truth sparing nobody starting from the then Prime Ministers P V Narasimha Rao, Rajiv Gandhi, Lalit Suri, Capt Satish Sharma and V Krishnamurthy to the Italians who have robbed the country of a lot of money to live happily thereafter''.
