Ranchi, Nov 30 (UNI) Eight dreaded ultras of different naxalite factions were killed in two separate encounters in Jharkhand in the past 24 hours.

In Chatra, four hardcore members of the banned naxal outfit CPI (Maoist), including an area commander, were killed in inter-gang rivalry late last night, police said today.

Superintendent of Police Subodh Prasad said the naxalite outfit was holding a meeting at Banasam village when their rival group Tritiiya Prastuti Committee (TPC) attacked them.

During the ensuing gunbattle, which lasted for two hours, sub-zonal area commander Satan Bharti, area commander Dara Ganjhu and two other cadrers of the CPI (Maoist) were killed.

Police recovered incriminating documents, mobile phones, diaries from their possession.

Another report from Latehar district said the security forces killed four members of Jharkhand Sangharsh Janamukti Morcha (JSJM) in an encounter at Anmarila village.

While a hardcore activist of the outfit Loha Singh's body could be recovered, bodies of three other cadres were whisked away by their accomplices, police said.

Acting on a tip off, a joint CRPF and police team went to Anmaila village, but seeing the forces, the ultras opened indiscriminate fire forcing the former to retaliate.

While Loha was killed on the spot, others managed to sneak into thick jungles nearby.

Police claimed that the ultras also managed to carry three of the slain bodies.
