Delhi Half Marathon raises 1.27 crores for charity

New Delhi, Nov 30 (UNI) A new health clinic in the outskirts of the capital, a helpline project for children, a school bus for poor students and a radio programme for the blind would be some of the spin-offs from this year's Hutch Delhi Half Marathon.

Organisers of the second Hutch Delhi Half Marathon today announced that the run raised Rs 1.27 crore, considerable increase from last year's collection of Rs 80.6 lakhs.

The Dream Team segment contributed Rs 24.5 lakh, while Rs 73.1 lakh came from Corporate Challenge and another Rs 10 lakh from PLedgers United. Besides, a painting by Anjali Ela Menon fetched the rest amount, they said.

Out of the 3000 runners who took part in the run, 250 raised money for a cause of their choice.

The money raised from the run would go to over 45 NGOs. SNS Foundation will get Rs 1.35 lakh to set up a health clinic in the outskirts of the capital, while Childline India Foundation would spend Rs six lakh to support its 1098 Child Helpline project.

Similarly, Sankalp Welfare Society would by a second hand school bus for poor students, while Score Fournation would fuel its Project Eyeway, a radio programme for the visually challenged, the organiers added.
