Convicted blast accused prays for lesser punishment

Mumbai, Nov 30 (UNI) Convicted lady blast accused Zaidunissa Kazi today broke down in the TADA court during the recording of her statement, before the court decides the quantum of her punishment.

Kazi, an aged fair looking woman attired in white Punjabi suit, said she was innocent and had nothing to do with the blast.

She said she is a divorcee having two daughters of marriageable age and the only earning member of the family. She was seen continously weeping in the court throughout the recording of her statement.

Pleading the court for a lesser punishment, she said she did did not have money to file an appeal in the Supreme Court, challenging the TADA court order which recently convicted her under the TADA act for possessing weapons in the notified area. A bag containing weapons was given to her at the instance of underworld don Anis Ibrahim by extradited gangster Abu Salem at her residence at Bandra.
